As the world price of oil is rocketing high, many people are looking for alternatives to oil specially gasoline as the primary source of power.
Many Technologies are cropping up like the fossil fuel, electric cars, hybrids and even solar powered vechicles are on the line. But despite all those alternatives, still gasoline engine are on the mainstream most of the cars of today. The reason is, it would be very costly to replace the present gasoline and diesel engine. They are still in mass production which help it lower the cost of production of gasoline engines despite the price of oil. The alternatives are very costly since these engine are still in prototype or experiemental stage.
But Brazil has found the best solution to ease the crises in oil, it is alcohol. Alcohol could be directly substituted to the old and present gasoline engine with a little modification on the engine carburator. Alcohol is best substitute because it is easily manufactured and its source is easily cultivated.
The main source of alcohol sugarcane. The sugar from sugarcane is cheaper to produce and is easily converted to alcohol via the simple process of fermentation. It is now one of the major argricultural product in Brazil and most of thier cars and busesand even airplanes are already using alcohol. Japan is one of the biggest importer of alcohol from Brazil and they are already starting to convert their vehicles for alcohol use.
There future in alcohol as fuel, it only take some time to make it happen.
